The Family Snug
“This ‘Family Snug’ was designed around the furniture as we did not want to buy all new pieces. Our dream was to create a room that the entire family could enjoy. Somewhere cosy to watch movies and have games nights. We had a vision for the tv unit and it turned out perfectly. Moody textured walls create an earthy warmth with the pop of the blue sofas. Handmade, double pinch pleat curtains in a similar colour to the walls with a very subtle gingham pattern allows for the furniture pieces to shine. Finishing the room with larger patterns and textures creates a tactile room you really want to spend time in!”
Oak Tree Cottage
This Cottage was a project that I designed and built with OTy Oak Home’s for resale. The cottage was fully oak framed and nestled in the Kent countryside. Key features included oak beams, oak ledge and brace doors, inframed bespoke kitchen with dovetail oak drawers and Quooker tap, a bespoke oak and softwood staircase, master bedroom suite, oak floors, with modern Lusso stone bathrooms.
The Moody Shower Room
As this room had no window, we leant into the darkness by using rough board walls painted in a dark moody colour, pairing with the beautiful porcelain sorrento tile from Fired Earth. The open oak washstand allowed for decorative pieces to soften the look and feel of the space. The unlaquered brass taps and shower features brings a warmth to the space that will patina over time. As this was an occasional shower we used an encaustic handmade glazed tile to bring even more texture to the space.
Tween Boy’s Bedroom
‘Creating a room from tween to teen and beyond!’
This room was for an 11 year old boy heading into senior school, having had a dinosaur bedroom for the past 6 years he was keen to show his love of sports and have somewhere quiet to complete his homework, and a space to hang out with his friends and game. At FORT Studio we love beauty, but it’s also important for us to create functional spaces, especially for family living. With this in mind we added the tounge and groove walls as they are hardwearing and add interest to a plain wall. This room has a wonderful view over the Kent countryside, so a desk under the window allowed us to frame the space with a bespoke cabinetry to house a gaming area and wardrobe in ‘Studio Green’ By Farrow & Ball which allowed for a real wow factor. Creating a zoned space for this tween to grow into. We paired all of this with a king sized metal bedstead for a real grown up feel. This room works for growing tween and teen into adulthood.
The Family Bathroom
The brief was a clean, bright bathroom with character. Large milky porcelain tiles wash the floor, whilst the glazed brick formation tiles bring a charm that will stand the test of time. Pairing with a Neptune, double sink unit, easy care chrome taps and shower, was ready for family life. The extra large stone and resin bath gives a real feel of luxury to this Kent countryside home. To soften the space, Pooky bathroom lights with shades frame the heated mirrors with thoughtful sensorsed layered lighting this bathroom oozes character.
